NiMet issues a warning to individuals with asthma and airline operators regarding dusty weather conditions.

 

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has forecasted sunny and hazy weather for the North and North Central states of the country starting from Wednesday, January 3, 2024. 

NiMet also cautioned about cloudy and hazy conditions, with limited chances of isolated thunderstorms over coastal cities such as Delta, Bayelsa, and Rivers states during the afternoon and evening.

 The agency issued these predictions in its Weather Report released in Abuja on Tuesday.

The report advises airline operators to obtain updated weather reports from NiMet for effective operational planning.

 Additionally, individuals with asthma and other respiratory issues are urged to exercise caution regarding the weather conditions.

The forecast specifies a slight dust haze over the Inland areas of the South during the forecast period, along with a few clouds in the hazy atmosphere over coastal cities.

 There are slim prospects of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Delta, Rivers, and Bayelsa states during the afternoon/evening period.

For each day of the forecast period:

- **Day 1 (Wednesday):** NiMet anticipates a sunny and hazy atmosphere over the North and North Central regions. Slight dust haze is expected over the inland areas of the South, with a few clouds in a hazy atmosphere predicted over coastal cities.

 There are slim prospects of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Delta, Rivers, and Bayelsa states during the afternoon and evening.

- **Day 2 (Thursday):** NiMet predicts a sunny and hazy atmosphere over the North and North Central regions.

 Few patches of clouds are expected in a hazy atmosphere over the inland areas of the South and coastal cities. 

There are prospects of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Rivers, Bayelsa, and Delta states in the afternoon and evening.

- **Day 3 (Friday):** NiMet anticipates a sunny and hazy atmosphere over the North and North Central regions.

 Few patches of clouds in a hazy atmosphere are expected over the inland areas of the South and the coastal belt, with chances of isolated thunderstorms.

NiMet forecasts isolated thunderstorms over portions of Edo, Bayelsa, and Delta states during the afternoon and evening. 

The agency recommends that the presence of suspended dust particles in the air necessitates precautionary measures by the public.
