Nigerians can’t continue going abroad for medical treatment — Buhari

Nigeria can no longer afford to see its citizens travel abroad for medical treatment because of the state of the hospitals in the country, President Buhari has said. PUNCH reports that the president said this while inaugurating projects at the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, Ebonyi state, on Friday. Buhari, who was represented by Ogbonnaya Onu, minister of science and technology, reportedly said the frequent medical trips abroad is not beneficial to the country, adding that it must end. “Nigerians have suffered so much going abroad for medical treatment. This is not good for us and it must stop because we can’t afford it again,” he said. He said the project was necessary to bring relief to members of the state and enhance the health condition of those in the south-east region. Cardi B reacts to killing of Commander of Iran's Quds Force by US government

American rapper, Cardi B has reacted to the death of Qasem Soleimani, the commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force Unit who was killed in a United States airstrike ordered by President Donald Trump. The Iranian general and his deputy Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, were among those killed in the attack at Baghdad International Airport on Friday, January 3, 2020. Shortly after the news, Iranian President, Hasan Rouhani announced that they will be avenging the death of its Revolutionary Guards commander Qasem Soleiman and others killed in the attack ordered by President Donald Trump. While it's being speculated online that Iran will retaliate by attacking New York City first, American rapper, Cardi B has taken to Twitter to react in fear and condemned the attack ordered by President Donald Trump. The 27-year-old mother of one who was recently in Lagos, Nigeria, also announced in her tweet that she is filling for her Nigerian citizenship.

A 32-year-old man, Kabiru Mohammed, has been arrested by men of the Department of State Services DSS for creating and sharing fake videos depicting President Buhari’s marrying the Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed and Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq. Recall that in October 2019, rumors were rife that President Buhari was set to wed Farouq. It turned out to be a false report as nothing like that ever happened. The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) popularly known as Shiites have condemned the killing of Iranian top general and Guards Commander Quaseem Soleimani and Iraqi Commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, in a US airstrike ordered by President Donald Trump. In a statement signed by IMN's Media Forum President, Ibrahim Musa, the Nigerian Islamic group alleged that the drone strike specially ordered by President Trump placed the world on the edge of a very destructive war. EFCC Gets Order To Detain Former Senator For 14 Days - Shehu Sani

Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has obtained a court order to detain the former senator Shehu Sani, for 14 days to allow thorough investigation of his alleged involvement in name dropping and extortion. The development followed fresh allegations levelled against the ex-lawmaker by the complainant, Alhaji Sani Dauda. Shehu Sani was arrested on New Year ‘s Eve by the EFCC operatives in Abuja for allegedly extorting $10,000 from Dauda, the Chairman of ASD Motors.

Zamfara states budgets 1 billion naira for mosques and to cater for the dead

The government of Zamfara State has earmarked over N1 billion for the construction of Jumu’at Mosques, Ramadan welfare package and renovation of cemeteries and other religious activities in the state for the year 2020. This was made known by the state Commissioner of Religious Affairs, Sheikh Tukur Jangebe while defending the 2020 budget proposal of his ministry at the state House of Assembly in Gusau on Tuesday. Jangebe noted that over N300 million from the amount would be used for Special Ramadan packages for rural dwellers in the upcoming 2020 Ramadan fast. “You know previously in every Ramadan season, the state government establishes Ramadan feeding centres across the state under this ministry. Michael Egwuagu, the former University of Texas football player accused of murdering his sister on Friday, can be heard confessing to the crime in a video recording that captured the moments immediately following Jennifer Ebichi’s death, according to police. “I killed Jennifer,” Michael, 25, can be heard saying in footage captured by a doorbell camera as he left Ebichi’s home outside Pflugerville. The 32-year-old deceased was in her first trimester of pregnancy. Martin Egwuagu, Michael‘ older brother and Ebichi’s twin, told police that he received a text message from Jennifer around 5:30 a.m. Friday stating that Michael “was at the residence and was having a crisis.”  Martin then spoke with his brother on the phone in an attempt to calm him down when he heard him make several strange statements.
