The police in Ekiti State have arraigned a 74-year-old man, Adejare Agboola, for allegedly forging documents of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Federal Ministry of Interior and Ekiti State House of Assembly. Police Inspector, Insp. Johnson Okunade told an Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrate’s Court on Thursday that Agboola, who is facing a charge of forgery and others at large, committed the offence on November 14, 2018 in Ado-Ekiti. Bill Gates has been unseated as the second richest man in the world, losing the position to Bernard Arnault, the chairman and CEO of LVMH. News Agency of Nigeria reports that in the latest ranking by Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index, Arnault is in second place with Jeff Bezos still retaining first place. Arnault and his families are the majority owners of Christian Dior and LVMH, parent of such brands as Louis Vuitton, Celine, Fendi, Moët, Hennessy, Dom Pérignon, and others. As LVMH’s share price has soared in 2019, so has Arnault’s worth. It now stands at about $107.6 billion, more than $200 million ahead of Gates, Bloomberg estimates. A 37-year-old guard, Wasiu Orilonise, has confessed to an Oyo State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ibadan that he raped his 15-year-old daughter in order to ascertain her virginity and protect her. Orilonise begged the court not to punish him as he had carnal knowledge of the victim for protection and to confirm if she was still a virgin. The accused was arraigned on one count of having unlawful carnal knowledge of his daughter. The prosecutor, Mr Sunday Ogunremi, told the court that the accused had sometime in December 2018 at Omo village, Agbofieti, Ibadan, in the Ibadan Magisterial District, raped the victim without her consent. Ogunremi said the offence was contrary to and punishable under Section 34, sub-sections 1 and 2 of the Child Rights Law of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2006. The Senate ad hoc committee investigating the crisis rocking the Edo State House of Assembly on Thursday met with the lawmakers being supported by the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress. Thirty-nine-year-old Kenechukwu Eze, a native of Amoli Edem in the Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, on Wednesday, said his gang members killed one Emmanuel Agundu because he withheld the N18m they realised from Internet fraud. The money was reportedly paid into his Nigerian bank account. Agundu, who was the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Udenu branch, was shot on August 15, 2018, at Obollo-Afor in the Udenu Local Government Area of the state by unidentified gunmen around 7pm, but  he survived the attack. However, on September 2, 2018, he was trailed to Uru-Uwani Edem in the Nsukka Local Government Area around 2pm and shot dead. A Colombian man was arrested at Barcelona airport with half a kilo of cocaine hidden under his wig, Spanish Police said Tuesday. The man attracted officers’ attention because he was “considerably nervous” and his wig was of “disproportionate size,” Police said in a statement. Officers questioned the man and found a “perfectly-sealed package taped to his head.” It contained 503 grammes (1.1 pounds) of cocaine worth over 30,000 euros ($34,000). In what Police have dubbed “Operation Toupee,” the man was arrested at Barcelona’s El Prat airport, Spain’s second busiest, after arriving on a flight from Bogota at the end of June. Spain, with its historic and linguistic links to South America, is an important gateway for cocaine to Europe, mainly from Colombia. The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed the two suits filed by Ned Nwoko, challenging the election of Sen. Peter Nwaoboshi as the Peoples Democratic Party candidate representing Delta North district in the October 2, 2018, primary of the party held in Delta. The five-man panel of justices led by Justice  Inyang  Okoro dismissed the suit  for lack of jurisdiction. The Federal High Court in Abuja had on Thursday, April 3, 2019, declared Ned Nwokwo as the true candidate of the PDP for the February 23, 2019, National Assembly election. However, the Court of Appeal in Abuja had reversed the April 3, 2019, judgment of the Federal High Court, Abuja, which sacked Senator Nwaoboshi as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for Delta North Senatorial seat. Mother of 8-year-old Oluwatosin Abosede, has quashed claims of her daughter being dragged to a store and raped by an unknown man. Twitter user @YemieFash relayed the information he got on the platform after his phone conversation with the mother of the girl who said her daughter was sexually abused by a woman whose whereabouts is currently unknown. It was also learnt that the police have commenced an investigation into the incident after being accused of having cold feet. He tweeted; I have been able to reach the mother of the 8year old girl that was raped in Irele, Ondo State.
