Maryam Sanda sentenced to death for killing husband

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on Monday, convicted and sentenced Maryam Sanda to death by hanging for killing   her husband, Bilyaminu Bello. Delivering judgment, Justice Yusuf Halilu   said   “every available evidence”   had proved that   Maryam   “fatally” stabbed her husband to death in Abuja on November 19, 2017.   Justice   Halilu said, “The concept of justice is tripled in nature, justice to the deceased, Bilyaminu, whose life was cut short in a brutal manner and whose innocent blood cries to high heavens for vengeance, justice to the perpetrators of the crime, who cannot be denied the benefit of the procedure ordained by God in the Garden of Eden that is fair hearing or fair trial, justice to   society whose membership has been depleted by one. “I am left in no doubt that the defendant has not just failed but woefully failed to explain the death of the deceased bearing in mind her discredited colourfully dressed evidence. “I

Suspected herdsmen shoot Nollywood actor dead in Kwara

Bandits, suspected to be herdsmen, have killed a Nollywood actor, identified as Juwon, along Ogbomoso/Ilorin Expressway. It was gathered that the incident happened on Monday morning at Otte area of the Expressway. It was learnt that the bandits suddenly got into the middle of the road and started shooting sporadically when one of the gunshots killed one of the Nollywood actors. The deceased, Juwon, was said to be a personal assistant to a popular Yoruba actress, Toyosi Adesanya, who was also on the journey. The actress confirmed that they were on their way to Ilorin for a movie production when the incident happened. Adesanya narrated that she escaped by the whiskers. She called on the Federal Government to intensify efforts to ensure security of lives and property. "We can't continue like to this. The poor boy's life was just taken away like that. We can't continue to be held to ransome by some armed bandits. The FG should come to our aid," she said
