 Nigerian students numbering over 1,262 have appealed to the Federal Government to evacuate them from the Republic of Sudan where a fierce military confrontation between the Sudanese armed forces and the paramilitary group, Rapid Support Force, has claimed 330 lives with 3,200 injured. The Secretary-General of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Sudan, Adam Mohammed, who said this in an interview with The PUNCH on Thursday, lamented that many students had run out of food. The clashes had also displaced thousands of civilians who fled the capital, Khartoum, even as some foreign nations, including Japan, Uganda and Tanzania had begun evacuating their nationals as the violence which started on April 8 entered its 12th day on Thursday.  The management of Godfrey Okoye University (GO-UNI), Enugu has banned the wearing of shorts by staff and students to work and lectures. GO-UNI, an institution owned by the Catholic Diocese of Enugu, also stated that fixing fingernails, eyelashes, and other artificial materials on the body will no longer be allowed in the university. Vice Chancellor of the university, Rev. Prof Christian Anieke, who made the announcement while addressing staff and students and its group of institutions warned the management would not tolerate staff or students who wear tights and other materials that expose the sensitive parts of their bodies, stressing that such acts distract other members of the university. He made it clear only black and brown hair would be allowed on campus and gave the staff and students one month to adjust to the new rules or be disciplined.   A Nigerian businesswoman has warned people to be careful when helping others to avoid getting into trouble.  The businesswoman explained that she travels from Italy to Nigeria and back for business.  Recently, while planning to return to Italy, she said someone reached out and said that they wanted to send food items to their sister in Italy.  She agreed to help deliver the food items consisting of crayfish, beans, garri, and other things. However, she said she decided to check the items before travelling, only to find illicit drugs craftily hidden inside the crayfish.  She pointed out that she could easily have ended up in jail just for trying to help someone.  She then warned Nigerians to be circumspect when helping others.  See the video below.

  A North Carolina 6-year-old and her parents were shot Tuesday night by an angry neighbor who fired at them after a basketball rolled into his yard, a report. Kinsley White was wounded along with her mother Ashley Hilderbrand and father William White when a gunman opened fire at around 8 p.m. in Gaston County after he became enraged about the bouncing ball, according to WSOC-TV. White was critically injured attempting to protect his daughter. Neighbors told the station a group of kids was playing basketball when the ball bounced into the alleged gunman’s yard. Suspected shooter Robert Louis Singletary grew angry and ran down the street as he fired at a neighbor, they reportedly said. Then he came back and began shooting at the family, including the young daughter who needed stitches on her face from bullet fragments, WSOC-TV reported.   A middle-aged man identified as Festus Stephen has been convicted and sentenced to death by hanging for killing his friend, Mohammed Sani (Jega) over N30,000.   The court heard that Festus of Sabon Pegi bye-pass, Yola town, Yola South LGA on or about October 19, 2018, at Sabon Pegi, caused the death of his friend, one Mohammed Sali (Jega,  by hitting him several times with the intention of causing his death. According to the prosecution team, the convict gave the deceased who happened to be his friend a loan of N30,000 but Mohammed could not pay back the money at the agreed time. The court heard that while both of them were in the room on that fateful day, the convict demanded that the deceased should refund him his money, but the late Jega reportedly told him that he was going to pay back the following week.  Friends and colleagues are mourning one Musa Abari Kusaki, who was killed while trying to prevent suspected kidnappers from abducting his wife in Abuja.    Musa was shot dead after the gunmen attacked his home in Kasada village in Kuje area council in the Federal Capital Territory FCT and abducted his wife, Hulaira, along with five others.   According to reports, the gunmen armed with AK-47 rifles, stormed the village at about 11.30pm on Monday, April 17 in large numbers and began shooting sporadically. Residents of the area say the gunmen forced their way into the homes.   The deceased man was said to have been trying to prevent the gunmen from kidnapping his wife when he was shot in the chest which led to his death.   The gunmen, after abducting the woman, proceeded to neighbouring houses, where they whisked away five other victims, before making their way back into the bush.    Taking to Facebook, one Comr.  A 33-year-old woman, Olaide Adekunle, has been arrested by men of the Ogun State police command for allegedly selling off her 18-month-old baby to a yet-to-be-identified buyer at the rate of  N600,000.   The suspect was arrested following a complain lodged at Sango divisional headquarters by the woman's husband, Nureni Rasaq, who reported that his wife, Olaide Adekunle, left home to Lagos on the 15th of March 2023 with their baby girl by name Moridiat Rasaq, but returned home without the baby.  He stated further that all efforts to know what happened to the baby proved abortive as the woman was unable to give any reasonable account of whereabout of the said baby.    Upon the report, the DPO Sango division, CSP Dahiru Saleh, detailed his detectives to go after the said woman, and she was promptly arrested.  On interrogation, the suspect confessed that she has sold her baby to someone in Lagos at the rate of six hundred thousand naira (#600,000).   When asked the reason for her acti
