Elliott Appleyard, 71, sexually abused daughter Carol Higgins in the 1980s, put an engagement ring on her finger and told her they would 'live happily ever after.' He raped the vulnerable teenager between 1983 and 1985 and took her to a tattoo parlour to have a rose and his nickname on her shoulder as a 'branded declaration of love,' a court heard. Today Appleyard was finally jailed for his crimes which were first reported to police in 1985 and  were committed at the West Yorkshire home he shared with his daughter after his wife had left him. Gov. David Umahi of Ebonyi has assured that President Muhammadu Buhari would be welcomed to the state by at least 2000 members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. Umahi has also allowed the All Progressives Congress (APC) to use the Pa Ngele Oruta stadium, Abakaliki for the party’s presidential rally on Jan.30. A father has been arrested after he allegedly beat a man to death, believing the man had raped his 7-year-old daughter in Port Elizabeth, S. Africa. Police spokesperson Captain André Beetge said the 36-year-old father was arrested on Tuesday for the murder of the 52-year-old man that was suspected of raping the child. Beetge said it was alleged that on Saturday at about 10:50pm, the victim, Mava Fundakubi, 52, was severely assaulted in De Vos Crescent, Shukushukuma, after it was suspected by community members that he had raped the little girl. While the girl and her mother were at the Motherwell Health Centre, Fundakubi was taken into the street and fatally assaulted by a large group of people. Beetge said investigators established that the child had not been raped and a search for the killers of Fundakubi ensued. The father of the girl handed himself over to police on Tuesday. . He alleges that he went to Fundakubi’s house and assaulted him in the street after other people joined him.

A woman has taken to Facebook to accuse her husband - a pastor - of domestic violence. The woman claimed she's been in an abusive marriage for the past 8 years. Chinese scientists have created "monstrous" monkey clones with genes specifically edited to carry diseases. Researchers at Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of Neuroscience are aiming to make a diseased "monkey population" in order to carry out animal testing and study a range of human diseases. They initially removed the BMAL1 gene - which is used to control human's circadian rhythm - in one macaque monkey. They then used the donor monkey's cells to clone five new  subjects using the same technique used to clone Dolly the Sheep, according to. The move has proved highly controversial and animal welfare activists have slammed the move as barbaric.

Gonzalo Higuain has today joined Chelsea on for the remainder of the season. The 31 year old Higuain moves from Italian side Juventus, though he spend first half of the season on loan at AC Milan where he scored eight goals before joining Chelsea. A 10-year-old boy, who suffers a health condition that means he has to wear a colostomy bag, has committed suicide after he was mocked for it. Seven Bridges, from Kentucky, hanged himself at his family’s home on Saturday while his mother was away shopping for groceries.  The child’s mother, Tami Charles, said she found him hanging inside a closet when she returned at about 10:30am. She told WHAS-TV: I saw my son dead. That’s something in my head. Seven Bridges was born with an unspecified bowel condition and endured 26 unsuccessful surgeries to fix the issue. The ailment resulted in the need to wear a colostomy bag, which is a small pouch placed over the stomach to collect waste products that would normally pass through a person's rectum and anus into the toilet The smell from the bag of waste cause bullies to attack the boy at Kerrick Elementary and on the school bus. An Atlanta woman is believed to have been raped in a nightclub and the video was circulated on Facebook. The unnamed woman was partying at Opera nightclub in Atlanta when the incident took place. She was livestreaming herself dancing at the club when the man began raping her as her Facebook friends watched. According to reports, the woman's drink was drugged with a particular drug, called ketamine, which social media users say men are now in the habit of using to spike women's drinks so as to rape them. In the Facebook live video, a man can be seen having sex with the woman from behind, while the woman, who seemed inebriated, kept saying "help me" and "stop". Read below:   Today at our office a young boy ( Favour Omokaro)  was brought by a caring citizen with fire burn on  his face, chest and belle. After hearing from the boy on how he got all the  skin burns on his body.   The boy  told us that it was his friend's  mother that inflicted the pain on him. After listening to him, we swung into action, firstly to hear from the police station where the matter was first reported. And we made  sure the police summoned  the accused woman.    They quickly took the boy for medical treatment on our swift intervention.    This little boy is not well cared for before now. 40-year-old woman, Foluke Olanipekun, has died after a fight she had with her neighbor at their home in Ogo Street Arigidi-Akoko in Akoko North west local government in Ondo state. According to reports, Olanipekun family and that of her neighbor have had a long standing misunderstanding and on Sunday night, the warring families faced each other in free for all in the night. Things degenerated after Olanipekun slumped and died during the scuffle. The police was invited and her remains were said to have been deposited at Ikare State Speacialist Hospital mortuary. The fighting neighbor of the deceased, Mrs Morenikeji Bello, 27, and her two children who were involved in the attack of late Olanipekun, were immediately arrested. According to Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Okeagbe-Akoko, Ibitayo Adetanranmi,a Superintendent of Police(SP)who confirmed the incident, the suspects will soon be transferred to Akure.
