Adidas terminates partnership with Kanye West after pressure from the public following antisemitic comments

Image
Adidas has ended its partnership with Kanye West after he made a series of antisemitic remarks and embraced a slogan associated with white supremacists that earned him widespread condemnation. The German sportswear giant said on Tuesday, October 25, that it "does not tolerate antisemitism" after the rapper was suspended from Instagram and Twitter over offensive posts. Adidas added that recent comments and actions from Kanye West had been "unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness".  The company said it would take a "short-term" hit of €250m (£217m) to its income for this year after deciding to stop the brand’s business with immediate effect. It is to end production for products under West’s Yeezy brand and stop all payments to the rapper and his companies.  In 2020, the partnership brought in nearly $1.7bn in revenue for Adidas, according to Bloomberg, and was due to

They thought protesters would get discouraged by their silence and disperse, but the numbers and locations increased. They thought we'd run out of cash, but we raised over ₦26million in less than 1 week and much more subsequently. They shut down the Flutterwave link for donations and we raised over ₦1million worth of bitcoins in an hour. They thought we'd get exhausted or fall sick, but we raised a team of medical personnel and even got private ambulances for emergency.  They thought that arresting us would make us cower, but we mobilised a team of over 600 lawyers across the country to provide free legal services. They thought that hunger would send us home, but protesters were literally having buffet services back to back. Small chops, rice, pasta, ẹwà agoyín, pizza, asun and drinks.  They thought that using water canons, throwing tear gas and shooting at us would make us become violent, but we remained calm.  They also thought that sending thugs to attack us would make us l

Man insisted it was my "duty" to pour his drink on our first date

One time, I had gone on a date with a serving Senator. Wine was brought and opened. Oga Senator who was on a call, finished his conversation and asked that I poured his drink. I told him I don't pour drinks for men. I told him "I am a lady. You serve me".  The "African man" "euphemism for egoism" kicked in.  Man insisted it was my "duty" to pour his drink.  I told him he was joking. Etiquette demands that he pours my drink first, and then his, last. "Otherwise, call the waiter to do it". When I saw he was going to keep at it, I told him I needed to use the restroom. I excused myself and didn't return.  He called many times when he realised I had gone. I did not pick his call till the next day. He apologized and offered another date.  I told him "we were not compatible".  I think we stayed friends, mutually respecting one another until death took him.  But that is not the core of my post... The young lady who set her h

As we were preparing for today's work....usual morning up and downs, I was bathing these jewels and hubby came close to the bathroom.  Hubby: Can I wear this pair of shoes with this outfit? (He was dressed already and trying to pick a shoe to match) Me: No jor, don't wear it. As he made a turn to pick another pair, I said, you can actually wear it sha because thats the trend now. I added jokingly that you can even wear agbada on sneakers now and you ll rock. Boom, Sis Questionnaire joined the conversation... Mo: Mummy why is it that everybody just need you in this house? Me: en?? Mo: yes, even Daddy came to ask you the shoes he will wear.. Me: ook,(I was seriously blushing at this point) Then I answered, it's because I'm the mummy in this house😁 ( i didn't know a better answer) I learnt a lesson, See en, these children sees and knows who does what in the family. They know the Daddy that is always feeling like the almighty. They know the Daddy that helps around the

Today, the reality is that we break the bias

Image
It’s international women’s day and today like every other day in the life of a woman, we are striving to break bias! I remember in 2017 when someone who came to see me in my newly set up office said to me “your husband really set you up nicely oh.” I remember telling her that though my husband is supportive, he wasn’t the one who set me up. The woman looked surprised and said “then it must be your father. He must have spent a lot of money doing this” to which I again replied that I appreciate my dad but, No, it wasn’t my father who set me up. I set myself up. Why did I do that? Even though I could have smiled and kept quiet, I responded because I wanted that woman to know that she didn’t need a male figure or anyone to set her up. I wanted her to know she is in charge of her life and is fully capable of making decisions that affects her growth and happiness. Today, the reality is that we break the bias that not only society has set for women but even the ones that women have set for t

As a woman, You're not just an entity

Image
Happy International Women's Day.  As a woman, You're not just an entity, you're so important in the agenda of God. You are God's general, you are a deliver who is expected to deliver God's general too, a godly seed after your likeness so you cannot afford to live your life anyhow. Don't yield yourself to be used of the devil to fulfill his mandate of raising ungodly seed. Live your life in partnership with the Lord to fulfill His agenda through you.  You're created as a woman not for procreation or for the other room alone. You are created for a purpose. You have your destiny to fulfill. Discover yourself, equip yourself, work upon yourself, allow the holy spirit to work upon you and manifest what God has designed you to be. Pour out those potentials in you. Someone wrote on his whatapp status and I agree with the person, he quoted a verse from the scripture. He said ' *he who founds a wife has found a good thing and obtain favor from the lord', he

The first day i saw a woman truck-driver,

Image
The first day i saw a woman truck-driver, i was shocked and not just me, all of us at the shop where i was. In fact  we started screaming " obirin lo n wa trailer  yi o" ( this truck-driver is a woman) Today, women taxi/cab drivers are normal part of our society.    I however  saw the one that really got me on sunday, a woman commercial tricycle driver with baby strapped on her back! That's  the height of hustle. I dont know what situation  pushed  her to go that  extent, I don't  know if it was her choice or life forced her into such.. I salute her courage To my fellow woman, who is working hard to be fufilled Who is taking up challenges Who is crushing mountains of impossibility.... I celebrate YOU! May we finally get to the height of fulfilment. Temitope Gbenga-Afesojaye 😗😗😗😗

Break the Bias: International Women's Day 2022

Image
International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality. IWD has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD is not country, group or organization specific.   International Women's day is powered by collective action and shared ownership for driving gender parity is what makes International Women's Day impactful. Gloria Steinem, world-renowned feminist, journalist and activist once explained "The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor t

Obedience....

Image
The  subject  of obedience  was  what  we  studied  and reviewed  for  our search the  scripture  today.  In the  course  of  the  study,  we  talked  about how  God  dealt  with those  that  disobeyed him  in  the  scripture ( the  likes  of King  Saul, Achan,  Jonah,  the Israelites,  Ananias  and his  wife  and so  on) and  the  way  he  is dealing  with  us  in  this our  dispensation.   I then  remembered  one of  my  write  up  about obedience,  a  lesson God  taught  me  then. We  often  disobey  God and  feel  nothing happens,  we  cry  unto him  for  mercy and he forgives. We  are  in  the dispensation  of  GRACE  so  we  think,  but  God  taught  me  a lesson  which  came  back  to  me  again  today  and  I  will  like  to share.  The  question  came  to me  then  that  do  I  know  that  there  are  levels  and  realms  of glory  in  this  kingdom? So  many  get  stuck  in  a  level  because  of many things. Some  because  of  their disobedience.  Yes  we  are  under  grace

World Glaucoma Week 2022

Image
World Glaucoma Week scheduled from March 6 to 12, 2022 is an initiative intended to put the spotlight on glaucoma as the leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide. Glaucoma is a group of ocular diseases with various causes that ultimately are associated with a progressive optic neuropathy leading to loss of vision function. Glaucoma remains a growing public health concern as the numbers are projected to increase exponentially. According to WHO report on Vision 2019, there are 76 million people aged 40 to 80 years with glaucoma worldwide. In Nigeria, the prevalence of glaucoma-specific blindness was 0.7 % among those aged 40 years and above (Abdul MM et al, 2009). It was estimated that 1.2 million adults in Nigeria had glaucoma in 2012. (Kyari F et al 2015). Prompt diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma can prevent needless vision impairment. Unfortunately, so many are unaware they have the disease or may not have access to care. World Glaucoma Awareness week provides a platform fo

What you must have before a woman can love you — Pst. Ibiyeomie

Image
Pastor David Ibiyeomie of Salvation Ministries has said most young men aren’t married because they’re broke. According to Church Gist, he disclosed this in his sermon. He said, “There is no man who is mature who doesn't want to marry. It's poverty, if you have money won't you marry? So, you know that God has wonderful plans for you but Satan said No! No job, no contract, no nothing, then you're still looking. F!ght and say this is not the plan, I can’t be this mature and not get married, we have Bachelors we have Manchelors and we have Pachelors.  Bachelors is in his 20s, if you are between 25 and 40 and you're not married you're a Manchelor, you have become a man and you're not married. If you're above 40 you have become a Pachelor. There are some Pachelors who are not married not because they don't want to marry but because there is no money. No finance, there will be no romance, have you seen any woman who says I love a man without money, not on

RELEVANCE..

Image
My eyes went up to these precious containers of mine this morning as I prepare breakfast. These containers have been my foodstuffs container for close to two decades! Yeah, about 20 whole years. If you are very close to me  you will know them.  To think that I didnt buy them is also an important thing to note. I got them from a Big Uncle that deals in animal drugs. They are empty vaccine containers. I took interest in them because of the shape and I was able to get these three. I set out of my parents house as an undergraduate with these beautiful containers. After graduation, I returned home with them. By the time i was leaving home to stand on my own, we left together. These my beauties entered marriage with me. They keep my foodstuffs really well till now. As I consider all these right there in the kitchen, RELEVANCE dropped in my mind!. I can't begin to count how many humans I have come across in the past two decades, but how many of them are still relevant to me in this life

BOUNDARIES...

Image
A boundary is a border and it can be physical such as a fence between two properties or abstract such as a moral behaviour. Boundaries indicate or fixes a limit or extent acceptable in a relationship with friends, colleagues, neighbours, even spouses.  I have personally observed that boundaries are often taken for granted in our society today. Marriage relationship is ideally the closest relationship in which two is perceived to have become one, yet boundaries are important. Being someone's close friend doesn't give the permission to bump into the person's pot of soup/fridge anyhow, you might not know the exact state of things with him/her at that particular time. You visited a friend that resides in a room and parlour apartment and just went straight into the room! I have heard of spouses who took their partners phone and make cash transfer sharperly*... Irrespective of how close you are to a person, Learn to ask for permission. Dear, can I please use your phone? Let her t

Israel says it supports Ukraine's territorial integrity, sovereignty in its first official statement as they offer humanitarian assistance

Israel has issued its first official statement on the crisis between Kyiv and Moscow, saying they support Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty.  Israel also announced they are prepared to transfer immediate humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, the Foreign Ministry statement added, and it is engaged in dialogue with its partners on ways to restore the diplomatic path. The statement, however, did not address Russia by name, reflecting the complicated position Israel has found itself in over the crisis unfolding 3,000 kilometers away. An Israeli diplomatic official who asked to remain anonymous said, "We did the minimum required so now we can go back to sitting on the sidelines."   While the Ukrainians declined to comment on the Israeli statement officially, a diplomatic source, who asked to remain anonymous because he was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly, indicated that it did not go far enough to suit his government. “This is better than nothing but

Purpose  and  decide in your  heart  not  to  go back  to your  vomit, ask for  the  help  of  the  holy spirit and see yourself winning. And for many of us, believers who  are  now  in Christ  Jesus, now citizens  of  the  kingdom,  is not   aware  of  our  right  in  Christ Jesus [ like  the Israelites of  whom  Christ  came to save,  believed  not in Him]  or   are   aware  but failed  to  take  our RIGHTFUL POSITION   in  Him. The   devil  had  cheated  us  so  much  by  creating   what  is  not  in our  heart  through  FEAR.  Fear,  as   defined  by one of   my   pastors, is FALSE  EVIDENCE APPEARING  REAL. Fear  is  the  opposite  of  faith. Satan  makes  us  believe  he  is powerful and  can  stop us. He  created  the  fear of  witchcraft  and  ancestral curses  in  our heart, that we  failed  to  hold  on to the  Almightiness  of our Lord  Jesus  Christ. I am not saying they  are not real  or  do not exist  but what I  am saying is  we have  so  much  attributed  po

YOUR RIGHTFUL POSITION IN CHRIST 1

Some days ago, one of my colleagues who happens to be my prayer partner and motivator sent me a bible passage [ Matt 15 : 21-28] to read, study and meditate upon and that we should rub mind on it later. I did and by the grace of God, the  Holy Spirit ministered some things to  me  from  the scriptures  which  I  will like  to  share  with us. Jesus  Christ  came  for the  lost  sheep  of  the house  of  Israel. The woman,  being  a  gentile came  to  Jesus  to  seek miracle  for  her  dying child  but  Jesus responded  to  her  not, the  disciples  asked  to send  her  away  but she persisted  and  when Jesus  would  respond  to her, He  said, the children's  food  is  not meant to  be  given to dogs. I love  the woman, she  was  wise enough  to  respond  to Jesus, that,  even  dogs  do eat from  the  crumbs  that falls  from  their master's table,  she fell and worshipped  Jesus. He told  her, she was of great  faith and instantly, the  child was made whole. Do  you  know  tha

Honour ...a lifestyle Part 3

My last series on my write up 'Honor, a lifestyle' Thank you all for reading through and it's not about reading, it's a call to be different, it's about being intentional about living a honorable lifestyle. 👇👇👇👇👇 Honor( a lifestyle) I  will  like  to  talk  lastly  on   this   topic  in  this  dimension. Another   definition  of honor  I  got  is  that  honor  means  excellence  of  character,  high  moral  worth  and virtue. Are  you  a  man  and woman  of  honor?  are you  excellent  in  your character?  do  you  have a  great  virtue? Permit  me   to  quickly share  this  experience  of  mine  with  you. When  I  was  seeking  admission  then,  one  of my  pastor  gave  me  a  letter  to  a  relative  of  his  who  happened  to  be  a  senior  staff   of  the institution  I  was  seeking  admission  into. On  getting  to  the  office,  it  was  unfortunate,   the  man had  retired  unknowingly to  this  pastor  of  mine,  but  I  met  a  man,  he  asked  me

Honour ...a lifestyle Part 2

When you give honor to people, you can easily influence them I am a teacher,by the grace of God I have taught both at the secondary  and primary section. There was a school I once taught, the students rarely listen when other teachers wants to address them except to some of us. I always respect their view, and when I'm addressing them,I am fond of using, dear, dearie, darling for them, you see them blushing, happy and feeling important.    I was able to preach Christ to them, and also share experiences of life with them. When I left the school, most of them found me here on Facebook and shared things  they were going through with me. I once listened to a message by Apostle Joshua Selma, titled,The gift of men, he said he honors everybody that comes his way,he said something that got my attention, he said some of this young ones you are seeing today, you don't know where they will be tomorrow. I then remembered one of my big sis that so much love me and took me like her own sister, one d

Honour....a lifestyle Part 1

Honor( a lifestyle) If  everyone  dares  to  make  honor  a   life  style,  conflicts  in   homes  and  marriages would  have  been  reduced  to  barest minimum.   I  once  read  here  on  Facebook   where   someone   wrote  " You  don't  tell  everything  to your  spouse",   what  a  wrong  ideology.  Telling  your  spouse  every  of your  move  and  decision  does not  make  you  a weakling,  it  only  shows  how  much  you  value    him/her.  Even  if  such  is  being heard  of  among  the  unbelievers,  it  should not  be  heard  at  all among  believers.  In  the  book  of   Eph 5 : 22-32,   the  bible  talked  about  wives  submitting  to  their  husbands  and  husbands  loving  the wives  as  Christ  loved  the  church ( God  so  much  loves   and   values  us  that  he  wants  to  tell  us  everything,  his  acts  and his  ways,  if  only  we  can  give  ourselves  totally  unto  him).  You  can  not  say  you love  without  honoring  your  wife  and  you  can  n
