 The Ebonyi State Police Command announced on Friday that it documented over 300 cases and apprehended more than 487 suspects from June until now. Additionally, the command reported prosecuting 140 cases and bringing 187 suspects to court during this timeframe. Mrs. Augustina Ogbodo, the Commissioner of Police for the state, provided these statistics during a press conference in Abakaliki. Ogbodo further mentioned that the command achieved 15 convictions and successfully recovered 12 stolen vehicles and 20 assorted firearms within the same period. The command has successfully recovered 350 ammunitions of various calibers and ousted criminals from multiple hideouts across different parts of the state. "I would like to express my gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, who granted us the opportunity to serve the state in this capacity. I commend our sister agencies for their cooperation, which contributed to the success of these achievements," she stated

 The Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation in Abia State has responded to recent incidents of child theft in two different areas of the state. They have urged parents to be more vigilant about the whereabouts of their children. According to a press release by Mrs. Ngozi Blessing Felix, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation in Abia State, eight children from different families were reported stolen in Umuahia within a span of three weeks. The ministry emphasized the need for parents and guardians to exercise greater caution when entrusting the care of their children to others. The commissioner advised the public to stay vigilant, report any suspicious individuals, and question those found in the company of many children at unusual times to the police or the ministry's complaint desk. The Police Recruitment Board has scheduled January 8, 2024, as the start date for screening successful applicants seeking recruitment into the constable cadre of the Nigeria Police Force. Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations, announced in a Thursday statement that decisions were made during the board meeting at the Police Service Commission's headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, regarding the upcoming stages of the recruitment process. "After closing the recruitment portal earlier this month, 416,270 Nigerian youths were identified as meeting the initial requirements for the next phase of the exercise. These successful applicants consist of 315,065 for general duty and 101,205 for specialist cadre," the statement added.
