Enwere-Kingsley Ikenna (9) of Cuddy Kids School, Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos on Thursday emerged overall winner of the 16th Annual National Mathematics Competition (ANMC).  Ikenna won gold medal, scoring 98.85 per cent to defeat 39,518 candidates who participated in the competition in the 36 states of the Federation, including the Federal Capital Territory. The competition organized by The National Mathematical Centre and Nigeria Tulip International Colleges (NTIC) Abuja, was to reward hard work for pupils who devoted time to surmount the phobia associated with mathematics.  Mr Ercan Yilmaz, Principal, NTIC, Ogun Chapter, said Ikenna would get all expenses paid full scholarship with N300,000 cash prize, while his teacher would get N200,000 and his school would get a digital printer and desktop. Justice Mohammed Tukur of the Kaduna State High Court, on Thursday, sentenced a businessman, Ugwu Frank, to two years in prison for issuing a dud cheque Frank’s road to prison began when a complainant petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over a Guaranty Trust Bank cheque of N3.470m issued by the convict in favour of Miagro Limited and dated April 3, 2018, to offset his indebtedness, was dishonoured. It was gathered that the cheque was not honoured by the bank due to insufficient funds in the convict’s account, while efforts to reach Frank failed. He was subsequently arrested and arraigned by the EFCC on two counts. Frank pleaded guilty to an amended charge preferred against him by the EFCC based on a plea bargain agreement dated April 3, 2019. The prosecuting counsel, M. The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed supplementary elections in some constituencies in River State for Saturday April 13, 2019. This is just as the commission set up a committee to look into the conduct of the lmo North Senatorial District election held on February 23 and March 9 2019. The stalemate over the governorship election in Rivers State came to an end with yesterday’s declaration of the incumbent governor, Nyesom Wike by the Independent National Electoral Commissioner, INEC, as the winner of the exercise.
