A man has called off his wedding on the grounds of infidelity, after accusing his fiancee of having sex with a Catholic priest. McDonald Majaya, 32, from Bulawayo in Zimbabwe told The Chronicle that he found out about the alleged affair between his fiancee Rutendo Mudzingwa, 24, and her priest, Father Itai Mangenda, after he stumbled on WhatsApp chats between. Majaya accused the priest of carrying on an affair with his girlfriend since February last year. The Federal High court in Yenogoa, Bayelsa state yesterday March 22nd sentenced 42 year old Ogho-Oghene Stephen Akpata to death by hanging for stabbing his wife of just one month, Oyinye Faustina Eze, to death at their home in the Kpansia area of Yenagoa in August 2017. Read intial story  here ,  here  and  here . Faustina and Stephen, a returnee from Australia, met in February 2017 when he came for his Sim card registration at her office. Faustina who was previously working at the Bonny Island branch of Globacom, was transferred to Yenogoa and so she had to relocate. When they met, he asked her out and she accepted his proposal. They got married in July after many times of him dodging to go see her parents and by August he had murdered her. She was about 4 months pregnant with their son Upon his arrest after the murder, Stephen alleged his wife was having an extramarital affair. He has been in trial since and just yesterday, the court sentenced him to death by hanging.

World Water Day is an annual UN observance day (always on 22 March) that highlights the importance of freshwater. The day is used to advocate for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. World Water Day is celebrated around the world with a variety of events. These can be educational, theatrical, musical or lobbying in nature. The day can also include campaigns to raise money for water projects. The first World Water Day, designated by the United Nations, was commemorated in 1993. Each year many countries celebrate World Water Day. The theme for 2019 is "Leaving no one behind" and encourages people to consider marginalized groups as these are often overlooked and discriminated against when they try to access safe water. The focus on universal access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) is in line with the targets of Sustainable Development Goal 6.  The UN World Water Development Report (WWDR) is released each year around World Water Day.

A mother ran over her drunk son with her car after he lay on the floor and dared her to. Cynthia Grund's 37-year-old son lay down on the dirt driveway and blocked his mother's car from passing on Monday afternoon. "Why don't you just run me over?" he told her. Well, the mother did just as he suggested.  Police say the victim was drunk when he lay flat on the dirt driveway and challenged his mom to run him over. Officials added that Cynthia Grund was sober when she pressed the accelerator and ran her son over with her car. Cynthia reportedly told Olmstead County, Minnesota deputies: "He didn't believe I would." She added: "He has been drinking all day. We gave him a chance." Grund's husband, the victim's stepfather, called police after the accident. The victim is hospitalized with "significant" head and pelvic injuries while his mother was arrested on second-degree assault charges, the NY Daily News reports

Imo state governor, Rochas Okorochas, has filed a suit against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before the Federal High Court in Abuja, challenging the authority of the electoral commission to withhold his certificate of return as the senator-elect for Imo West senatorial district. INEC refused to issue him the certificate of return after the Returning Officer for the February 23rd election, Professor Francis Ibeawuchi, said he announced Okorocha as the winner of the senatorial election "under duress". The suit was filed by his counsel, Kehinde Ogunwumiju (SAN), Okorocha made the plaintiff made INEC the sole defendant in the suit. However, Justice Taiwo Taiwo, the presiding judge, by the agreement of the counsels involved in the case, made an order permitting Jones Onyeriri, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the election and Senator Osita Izunaso of the All Progressives Grand Alliance to be joined as the 2nd and 3rd defendants. Both c

A father has been arrested for selling his 1-year-old daughter online for £6,800 to pay off his gambling debts. The heartless father, named only as Jiang, sold the one-year-old to a couple after racking up debts of more than 60,000 Yuan (£6,798), according to reports in China. Jiang lied to his wife that his daughter needed to stay with his mother. He then flew the child more than 1,150 miles away from their home in Guiyang, Guizhou province, last November. But his wife, named Wang, grew concerned after he didn't return after three months and repeatedly postponed their return. In February, she checked her husband's phone and found chilling conversations between him and her daughter's buyers. The distressed mum then met with her husband's mother in Zunyi city, about 87 miles away, who informed her that her son and granddaughter left her weeks ago. She immediately contacted police who eventually tracked Jiang down to a hotel in Guiyang last month.

An 18-year-old Nigerian student has been arrested for pouring bleach into her roommate’s eyes during an argument, Brianna Esomchukwu, 18, a freshman at Prairie View A&M University in Texas, was booked on an aggravated assault charge on March 8.  According to Prairie View A&M University Chief of Police, Keith Jemison, Esomchukwu's roommate, 19-year-old Julisha Wyatt, had bleach in her eyes and had minor burns on her skin after the attack. She was taken to a local hospital to have her eyes flushed out.  Speaking to WFAA, Wyatt's mom said that there had been some friction between the roommates - particularly since Wyatt complained to a resident advisor that their on-campus apartment smelled like marijuana, which they think contributed to the incident. A university spokesman said Esomchukwu's enrollment and status as a student are under review, WFAA reported.

A paedophile has been handed over to the police after being caught, red-handed, molesting two underage siblings in GUT village, Plateau State According to a report by an eyewitness, Jemimah, the suspect, identified as James Otuneruke, from Delta State, has been luring the kids with sweets, bobo drink, bread and noodles for over four months now. It was also gathered that the married father-of-two has infected the victims, aged 13 and 11, with an STD. Further investigation revealed that, at times, he bribes the girls with N200 so as not to tell anyone. A young Australian man has had the inside of his ears removed to deliberately alter their cosmetic appearance and achieve a more unique look. Body modification artist Chai Maibert shared a photo of the 'conch removal' on social media, which has since been shared by thousands and seen many users joke about the appearance of the man's ears. UN French Language Day is celebrated on March 20.
