Tinubu has named new leaders for FAAN, NAMA, and four other organizations.
President Bola Tinubu has authorized the suspension, removal, and replacement of certain chief executive officers within the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
This move, as announced by Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale on Wednesday, aligns with the president's commitment to elevating Nigerian Civil Aviation to global standards, emphasizing consumer protection, and promoting the well-being of Nigerian passengers and other stakeholders in the sector.
Notably, Mr. Kabir Yusuf Mohammed, the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), has been removed from office and succeeded by Mrs. Olubunmi Oluwaseun Kuku as the substantive managing director.
Similarly, Mr. Tayib Adetunji Odunowo, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), has been replaced by Engr. Umar Ahmed Farouk. Engr. Akinola Olateru, the Director General of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), has been removed and succeeded by Mr. Alex Badeh Jr. Prof. Mansur Bako Matazu, the Director General of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET), has also been replaced by Prof. Charles Anosike.
The Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Capt. Alkali Mahmud Modibbo, has been removed from office and replaced by Joseph Shaka Imalighwe as the acting Rector.
This change aligns with Section 13(2) of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology Act, 2022.
Capt. Musa Shuaibu Nuhu, Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has been suspended to facilitate an unfettered investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) into the activities of the suspended Director-General and other senior officials.
Capt. Chris Najomo assumes the role of acting Director-General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority immediately.
President Tinubu has approved the commencement of a diligent process, led by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, to recruit a substantive Vice-Chancellor and other principal officers for the African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU).
The President expects the new leadership in this critical sector to prioritize the safety, convenience, and comfort of the Nigerian people in all administrative activities.
He emphasizes the need for a world-class policy design, implementation, and regulatory frameworks to reposition the sector in line with his Renewed Hope Agenda.
All directives take immediate effect.
