Rivers begin demolition of assembly complex, pro-Fubara lawmakers meet

The political crisis in Rivers State escalated on Wednesday when approximately 10 bulldozers entered the premises of the state House of Assembly, initiating the demolition of the complex.

During the early Wednesday sitting, factional Speaker Edison Ehie, along with other lawmakers loyal to the governor, took charge before the demolition commenced. Ehie mentioned that the complex needed repairs after an explosion on October 30, 2023. He assured that the governor would arrange an alternative location for them temporarily.

The demolition is being carried out with heightened security. More details later
