President Bola Tinubu has called upon Nigerian doctors living abroad to return home and contribute to the nation's health sector.
He emphasized his administration's commitment to improving healthcare in Nigeria, citing substantial investments and increased budget allocations for the sector in the proposed 2024 budget.
Tinubu made this plea on December 12 during the unveiling of Nigeria’s Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative at the State House in Abuja. He underscored the government's dedication to achieving Universal Health Care Coverage and urged health professionals in the diaspora to follow the examples of Professor Ali Pate and Tunji Alausa by returning to serve their fellow citizens.
Tinubu also appealed to developed countries benefiting from Nigerian health workers to consider supporting the expansion of training facilities in Nigeria, acknowledging the need to address challenges posed by climate change and prevent the deterioration of the country's health system.
