In the past six months, the police in Ebonyi have apprehended 487 individuals.

 The Ebonyi State Police Command announced on Friday that it documented over 300 cases and apprehended more than 487 suspects from June until now. Additionally, the command reported prosecuting 140 cases and bringing 187 suspects to court during this timeframe. Mrs. Augustina Ogbodo, the Commissioner of Police for the state, provided these statistics during a press conference in Abakaliki.


Ogbodo further mentioned that the command achieved 15 convictions and successfully recovered 12 stolen vehicles and 20 assorted firearms within the same period.

The command has successfully recovered 350 ammunitions of various calibers and ousted criminals from multiple hideouts across different parts of the state.


"I would like to express my gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, who granted us the opportunity to serve the state in this capacity. I commend our sister agencies for their cooperation, which contributed to the success of these achievements," she stated. The commissioner also extended thanks to the state Governor, Francis Nwifuru, and his team for creating a conducive environment that facilitates the effective discharge of duties.
