The Police Recruitment Board has scheduled January 8, 2024, as the start date for screening successful applicants seeking recruitment into the constable cadre of the Nigeria Police Force. Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations, announced in a Thursday statement that decisions were made during the board meeting at the Police Service Commission's headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, regarding the upcoming stages of the recruitment process.
"After closing the recruitment portal earlier this month, 416,270 Nigerian youths were identified as meeting the initial requirements for the next phase of the exercise. These successful applicants consist of 315,065 for general duty and 101,205 for specialist cadre," the statement added.
The statement further mentioned that successful candidates should expect to receive their invitation letters on or before December 23, 2023. The next stage involves both physical and credential screenings to be conducted in the applicant's state of origin.
The Board has instructed that candidates invited for the screening exercise should bring original copies of their certificates and credentials, including letters of attestation from their local government chairmen and/or traditional rulers.
The subsequent stages of the recruitment process include a computer-based test (CBT) after the screening exercise and a medical examination, with the date to be announced in due course.
The statement provided additional information, stating that after the closure of the recruitment portal, Kaduna State leads with 31,117 successful applicants, followed by Adamawa with 29,848, Benue with 25,346, Borno with 24,854, Katsina with 24,239, and Bauchi with 22,958.
Furthermore, other states with a high number of successful applicants include Kano (21,006), Niger (17,959), Gombe (17,493), Yobe (17,207), Nasarawa (16,284), Jigawa (16,007), Taraba (15,622), Plateau (15,389), and Kebbi (12,917).
On the other hand, Anambra State has the lowest number of successful applicants nationwide with 1,141, followed by Ebonyi (1,537), Lagos (1,775), and Abia (2,110).
The statement also cautioned successful candidates to be vigilant against fraudsters, emphasizing that the entire recruitment process is free and will be conducted based on merit and performance.
