The Known Beggar.

So, I set out today as I always do when the need arises.

I had three main places to touch

The first was scheduled for 8:15 am, the second 11 am and the third could be anytime as long as I report at the school gate by closing.

The first went well.

The second too.

As I made my way to the bus stop to continue the day's hustle,

Boom I saw "Grandma"
She was actually clothed in beggars apparel, looking so unkempt!
I had shouted Grandma before it dawned on me that I shouldn't have done that in the popular 'Challenge' that we were.
Well, i soaked in my surprise and gave Grandma a token.

Meanwhile I had seen a church member around that place so I quickly went back  to check on him and to report what I just saw.

Lo and behold, it wasn't new to him.
Grandma is a professional Beggar.
I was shocked.
My church has a routine package for supporting the needy  and they do faithfully. This Grandma is a beneficiary of the scheme yet she still chose to beg.

The church has even counseled her to stop but she never obliged.

This got me thinking as I continue my day's business.

Hmm, difficult people exist...no matter how you try to assist them, they are just DIFFICULT.

I finally accept as from now that begging is a profession in Nigeria.

Could this be a character?

Can one be addicted to begging?

Is it greed?

May my dear country people be sane again!
