An airport official has been apprehended for trying to transport a suspected drug aboard an Ibom Air flight.

An official from Partfinder International Limited, an aviation security company, was arrested at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, for attempting to send a suspected illicit drug on a departing Ibom Air flight to Accra, Ghana.
According to the statement by the Director of Public Affairs & Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah, the employee asked a passenger to carry a parcel on the flight.
The passenger became suspicious, raising concerns about potential involvement in drug trafficking. The FAAN spokesperson later revealed that the passenger was also arrested for further questioning, while the employee was taken into custody by the Crime Investigation and Intelligence Unit of the Aviation Security Services.
The passenger eventually boarded the Ibom Air flight to Accra, and the substance, labeled as 'NEW AGE GLUCOSAMINE CHONDROITIN SULFATE COMPLEX,' was handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation. FAAN emphasizes its commitment to a drug-free society and a zero-tolerance policy for drug trafficking through its airports.
