Suspected ritualists kill man, harvest his body parts in Ondo

A yet-to-be-identified man has been found dead with some of his body parts missing in Akure, the Ondo state capital.
The spokesperson of the state police command, Olufumilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, who disclosed this to newsmen, said the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at Oba-Ile Police Station and his men had visited the incident scene. The deceased body was found dumped around the Benin motor park area of the state.
She said the corpse had been checked and moved to the mortuary in the specialist hospital, Akure.
“Preliminary findings showed that the man was said to be a driver from Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo state,” she said
The police spokeswoman added that the corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the state morgue.

The Independent National Electoral Commission in Yobe State says it has identified 24 inaccessible areas with security challenges where elections will not hold. Ahmad Makama, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, stated this at a stakeholders interactive session on Wednesday in Damaturu. He said security operatives had confirmed some communities in Gujba, Gulani and Giedam with security challenges that were inaccessible and not conducive for election. Makama said the commission was liaising with the communities for a more accessible alternative polling units to cast their votes. “We are determined to ensure that every eligible voter exercises his franchise, and are therefore collaborating with all political parties and stakeholders for a generally acceptable alternative polling units so that no one will cry foul,” he said. According to the commissioner, 69,000 Permanent voters card had not been claimed in the state. (NAN)
45-year-old man hangs self in Bayelsa

A middle-aged man said to have hailed from Enugu State has committed suicide in Etegwe-Epie, a suburb of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital. The 45-year-old man, identified as Oliver Osieme, reportedly hung himself inside his room in the community. Our correspondent, who visited the area, gathered that the deceased, a tipper truck driver, committed the act in an apartment owned by a lady he was cohabiting with, who also hails from Enugu State. It was learnt that the victim, his partner and a teenage girl staying with them had morning devotion before the woman left for her business at the Tombia roundabout, while the teenager left for school. Neighbours said that it was the teenage girl, who raised the alarm when she came back from school and met the apartment locked and discovered through the window the deceased dangling.
