EBONYI STATE PEACE COMMITTEE ON OSO/AMASIRI CRISIS MEETS WITH VICTIMS

 




The effort of Ebonyi State Government under His Excellency,Engr David Nweze Umahi through the Peace Committee on Oso/Amasiri Crisis has  continued to yield positive results as the two neighbouring communities have resumed daily social & economic interaction.


Further steps have been taken by the Peace Committee to ensure that those who sustained damages/losses of any kind during the crises are pacified.


The Committee which has severally met  with relevant Stakeholders to ensure that permanent peace is restored, also on Wednesday,15th February 2023 met with Community Leaders from Oso & Amasiri.


The meeting took place at Afikpo North Local Government Headquarters, Afikpo with the two Communities expressing satisfaction with the progress recorded so far in resolving the crisis


Members of the Committee led by  HRH Ezeogo Omezue Bassey Idam Onya (Ekumaubaghala III of Amasiri Autonomous Community) who is the Chairman and Dr. Mike Okoro (Vote for Jesus) as Co-Chairman also met with the victims of the Crisis from both Sides.


Also, present during the meeting included some notable personalities from Edda and Amasiri who described the crisis of last week as unnecessary as they  advocated for sustainable peace between the two neighbouring communities


Both sides further reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful co-existence and thanked the Governor of Ebonyi State,His Excellency, Engr David Nweze Umahi; Minister of Health (State),Barr. Joseph Ekumankama; the two Council Chairmen,Hon Uche Ibiam &Hon Chima Ekumankama and other Stakeholders for their quick intervention in the matter.


Ezeogo Charles AzuEnya(Owuu XII of Ebunwana); Rev David Agwu and Bishop Ken O Daniels enjoined both sides to guard against negative utterances and writings that could sow seed of discord between Oso and Amasiri people
