10-year-old Fitrah Adegbite wins APEN Spelling Bee competition

Ten years old Fitrah Adegbite has emerged the winner of the Association of Private Educators in Nigeria /Grace Schools Senior Primary Spelling Bee Competition.

Adegbite, who is a primary five pupil of Greenwood House School, won the spelling competition tagged “Super Spellers”.

The competition had 51 participants from several schools in Lagos State and held at Grace Schools, Gbagada, Lagos.

In a statement issued by the Greenwood House School, Adegbite said his achievement was as a result of the intense support and training given to him by his teachers. He was very happy that his hard work and commitment paid off.

Commenting on the student’s performance in the spelling bee competition, Greenwood House School Co-founder and Administrator Dr. Titilola Ekua Abudu explained that the school is always committed to giving their students the best education.

Dr. Abudu said, “The students practised regularly and for the finals at least three times daily. A teacher is primarily assigned to each student with other teachers to support. Sometimes they spare time after school to train. We applaud competitions like this as they play a role in motivating students to work hard and we are extremely grateful for the opportunity extended to us to partake”.
