The Presidency announces that the newly established 100-bed hospital in Kebbi is expected to decrease maternal and child mortality.

 

The recently inaugurated 100-bed Mother and Child Hospital in Tsamiya village, Kebbi State, is expected to significantly reduce maternal and child mortality, as stated by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (OSSAP-SDGs).

 The state-of-the-art hospital, constructed and equipped by OSSAP-SDGs, was handed over to the Kebbi State government last week.

Governor Nasir Idris, who commissioned the hospital, praised Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, the SSAP-SDGs, for delivering this commendable project in Kebbi State.

 Governor Idris acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's steadfast commitment to enhancing the health sector, highlighting that the hospital would contribute to reducing child and maternal mortality and improving maternal health in Kebbi State and neighboring Benin Republic.

Expressing gratitude to Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, Governor Idris emphasized the hospital's significance in addressing the healthcare needs of the underserved population in the area.

 He reiterated the state government's commitment to constructing staff quarters to support the hospital's services and alleviate accommodation challenges for the medical staff.

Additionally, the representative of Bagudo/Suru Federal Constituency, where the hospital is located, acknowledged the numerous projects implemented by OSSAP-SDGs in the area.

 The representative expressed appreciation to President Tinubu and OSSAP-SDGs for their benevolence in delivering essential healthcare facilities.

Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire mentioned that the hospital was constructed and equipped according to international standards.

 She further explained that, like similar facilities built across the country, this one is fully equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment, including an Operating Theatre, Labour Room, Recovery Rooms, Children ICU, Private and General Wards, Scanning Room, Consultation Rooms, and Laboratory. 

Additionally, it features an Ultra-Scan Machine, Vacuum Extractor delivery set, and an Emergency Cart with full complements. The Mother and Child Centre (MCC) aligns directly with the achievement of SDG-3 on ‘Quality Health and Well-being for all,’ along with other interconnected SDGs.

The Senior Special Assistant expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his leadership and support in advancing the SDGs in Nigeria.

 She acknowledged his commitment to collaborating with sub-national governments for key interventions to expedite the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.

She also extended sincere appreciation to Governor Nasir Idris for his unwavering dedication to the socio-economic transformation of Nigeria and the collective pursuit of SDGs in the country. 

Emphasizing the importance of strategic interventions, especially in the face of challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic, she highlighted the Renewed Hope Agenda and the commitment to prioritize key interventions with multi-dimensional impacts on poverty, such as basic healthcare, vocational skills development, and education provisioning.

 She emphasized the urgency of immediate and sustained action to prevent the pandemic's potential to reverse decades of human development gains and undermine SDG achievements.

She emphasized that this highlights the construction and equipping of numerous healthcare facilities distributed across the country.
