Gunmen seize the Chairman of a Local Government in Benue, along with three of his aides.


 Gunmen abducted the Caretaker Chairman of Ukum Local Government Area in Benue State, Haanongon Gideon, and three others early on Saturday.

 The chairman, along with his personal assistant, driver, and a police officer, was kidnapped around 6:30 am while en route to the burial of the paramount ruler of Katsina-Ala LG, Chief Fezaanga Wombo.

 A press statement from the council secretary, Jonathan Modi, confirmed the incident and urged the local community to remain calm, assuring them that efforts are underway to secure the victims' release.

 The state Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Matthew Abo, also acknowledged the abduction.
