Abia guber: Ikonne out, Ikpeazu shops for replacement

It has been reported that the Abia State Governoship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prof Uche Ikonne may not be standing for the forthcoming election.

This is due to his health condition which is reported to be depreciating by the day.

He may therefore not be able to contest the Abia guber contest scheduled for March 25th.

Ikonne was last seen in public during the G-5 Governor’s rally in Umuahia Nov. 22 last year.

His abscence has also reportedly slowed down the party’s campaign in the state.

Feelers say the situation has caused anxiety for both Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and party leaders in the state.

Efforts to reach the Director General Ikonne Campaign Organization failed as he couldn’t be reached on phone.
