INEC: GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION HOLDS IN KOGI AND BAYELSA NOV. 2

The Independent National Electoral Commission on Tuesday said the governorship election in Kogi and Bayelsa states would hold on November 2.

The National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education, INEC, Mr Festus Okoye, in a statement also said the commission had approved the timetable and schedule of activities for the election.

He stated that the official notice for both elections would be issued on August 1, while the parties were to hold their primaries from August 2 to 29.

He added that campaigns would commence on August 2 and end on October 1.

Meanwhile, Okoye in another statement said INEC had approved a proposal to conduct an extensive review and debriefing on the 20l9 general elections

He explained that such would allow for the evaluation of the commission’s performance to address the challenges and strengthen operational and institutional capacities to conduct free, fair, credible and peaceful elections.
